We Need More Famous, Populist-Voting Politicians in the Mainstream…
Article #49: Politics
One day we were looking at comments on posts from our social media pages. As we were looking through the ones on Facebook®, we saw that someone had written that they were “tired of seeing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez” in the news.
Tired of seeing AOC in the news, huh?
NEWSFLASH: Politics is not a game show.
It’s not a sitcom.
It’s not a new Christmas toy.
It’s not a young, new dancer at a strip club.
It’s not something to where you get a new thing just because the current thing is no longer new.
Politics is supposed to be about one thing.
Positive, effective legislating for primarily #WeThePeople.
Unfortunately, politics has turned into a mainstream media circus; full of Establishment clowns who dance around important political subject matters and give status quo-favorable answers that make the audience burst out in laughter.
Think about it: How many years has the Establishment’s narrative been being pushed in mainstream media by Establishment politicians consistently going on television and praising the status quo? Did you say that you were sick of seeing them?
We’d bet no.
And if no, then why not?
Because they weren’t exciting anyone, so we were never saturated enough with them to even care enough to get sick of them, and that was purposeful.
These boring Establishment figures were put on television because the mainstream media, their executives, and their corporate advertisers needed the repetition of the Establishment to be consistent, not exciting. Excitement would play too much into people’s emotions and would get people to pay much more attention.
That’s too dangerous to their profits.
Think about your refrigerator. If every time you opened it, something stale was in there that you didn’t want, eventually you wouldn’t open it that often, right? However…
…what happens when you put food that you love into that refrigerator? How often do you think you’d keep coming back to it to eat?
Those go-along-to-get-along Establishment talking point spewers who you see nowadays, and their counterparts the public has periodically viewed over the years, have/had one job and one job only:
Be boring enough to keep the status quo.
TRANSLATION: They never really wanted us to pay attention. They simply wanted us to ‘tune in,’ which would raise the ratings and help increase their profits.
As far as the actual political and policy information, their goal was to have the Establishment talking points ready for whoever just so happened to tune in to their station.
That’s all. Nothing else.
Then a hero comes along, and his name was U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
He spoke passionately and convincingly about the things about which the majority of Americans cared, and more and more people started turning to their stations not just to tune in, but to actually pay attention.
And, day after day, month after month, and year after year, the policy conversation, especially financial, began to shift; finally starting to turn back toward #WeThePeople. This was not good for these mainstream media company executives. However…
…what was good for them is that Senator Sanders brought in viewers from the key 18-34 demographic. This was an opportunity that the mainstream media could definitely exploit in order to make and maximize profit off of his appearances, but there was one serious problem.
Bernie Sanders was too high up in the country’s political ranks and became too big of an immediate threat to the Establishment. So, what did they do to him?
They ‘media muffled’ him and his presidential candidacy.
Unfortunately for the muffling media, it was too late. His message had already permeated the psyche of the American people.
Next thing we knew, Sanders’ message had spawned a group of young Progressives who took up the populist mantle with him, one of whom being Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, better known as AOC. She was young, smart, relatable, dynamic, and pretty. But, most importantly to the mainstream media, she was at the bottom of the political power totem pole.
And what did that mean?
She could be used to bring in massive amounts of money through repeated interviews because she, like Bernie Sanders, would attract the key 18-34 demographic. However, due to her political status, she, unlike Bernie Sanders, is a distant threat, not an immediate one.
And if there is one thing we know about corporations, they primarily care, almost exclusively, about making money in the short term, regardless of the detriment to their long term viability (climate change anyone?).
Unfortunately for these mainstream media companies who think they are exploiting AOC for profit, her end goal for media exposure is like Bernie Sanders’ end goal: If enough people hear and mobilize by it, change will come.
So, in actuality, she’s using them to repetitiously spread the flames, born from Bernie Sanders’ spark, through massive mainstream media exposure. And, as you can see, “Repetition breeds remembrance,” says Tim Carthon, #TheFieryTruthTeller, and remembrance is the seed of action.
So, are you still “tired of seeing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez“?
Americans need to turn off the fake reality shows, put down the remotes, turn on the real reality show of politics, and master the understanding of one simple thing media-wise:
If the current person who is dominating the news cycles is dominating it because they are fighting for #WeThePeople, and they are a politician, then we want them in and on the news as much as possible, period.
