Notice How You Forgot About Scott Walker? No, You…
Article #14: Politics
What a difference a day makes.
Yesterday, the 2nd Republican Debate for the 2016 Presidential Campaign included most of the same interesting characters from the 1st, one of whom being Scott Walker, current Republican Governor of the great state of Wisconsin.
And why shouldn’t it?
Just look at the amazing gubernatorial record this candidate says he has built:
-
Won against the Unions in his state.
-
Won a historic recall election.
-
Created 250K jobs in Wisconsin.
-
Governed a Blue state from deficit to fiscal solvency.
That is an almost perfect record for an individual running for a Republican Presidential nomination. And, now that he’s in the 2016 race, it’s a perfect time for him to show his monstrous political prowess, right? So, how has he done so far?
Not well.
It seems like this great record that he says he accumulated as Governor of Wisconsin has not prepared him for the national stage. And that is a sad thing, because that is definitely an awesome gubernatorial record he says he has.
That’s weird, though. To supposedly have that great a record in your state, but then be that inept on the national stage just doesn’t seem to mesh well. Maybe we’re missing something. Maybe I’m missing something.
Wait.
Maybe Scott Walker is missing something?
Yes, he is. He’s missing actual facts regarding his Governorship. Let’s look at his actual record while he was ‘leading’ the state of Wisconsin:
-
He didn’t win against the Unions in his state. He beat down the Unions, which actually hurt his constituents and their incomes.
-
He won a recall election. Yes, this is true. However, it was an election in which $45M of the total $63.5M spent was spent from his campaign and supporters, a 7-to-1 spending advantage against his opponent based in out-of-state, ‘Citizens United’ cash.
-
He created 250K jobs in Wisconsin? No, he didn’t, but he keeps repeatedly eluding to it like he’s Dorothy from ‘the Wiz’ clanging his dress shoes together: “I did create 250K jobs. I did create 250K jobs.”
-
He governed a Blue state from deficit to fiscal solvency, right? I mean, that’s what he said in his book: “The $3.6 billion deficit we inherited has turned into more than a half-billion-dollar surplus.”
I mean, a politician in the United States wouldn’t be dishonest, so it has to be true, right? No, it’s not, but he keeps saying it is so. Wisconsin is actually in debt up to its eyeballs because of him due in large part to tax cuts for the rich.
